Alex Sharpe is a radiant Irish soprano and acclaimed actress whose luminous voice has captivated audiences across the globe. Originally from the seaside town of Portmarnock in County Dublin, she began her professional career at just 19, starring as Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz at Dublin’s Olympia Theatre. This striking debut launched a career defined by passion, versatility, and powerful performances.
Alex soon made her mark on London’s West End—the heart of musical theatre—where she performed in celebrated productions including Les Misérables, The Rocky Horror Show, Aspects of Love, and Follies in Concert. In the West End and on the UK and Ireland tour of Les Misérables, she portrayed the beloved character Éponine, earning acclaim for her emotive vocals and compelling stage presence. Her time in the West End solidified her reputation as a world-class performer.
In 2006, Alex joined the internationally renowned ensemble Celtic Woman, embarking on global tours and performing in iconic venues around the world. Her soaring voice became a hallmark of the group’s signature blend of Irish tradition and modern elegance. She returned for their 10th-anniversary celebration in 2015, once again enchanting audiences worldwide.
As a solo artist, Alex released her debut album Be Still My Soul in 2013—a deeply personal collection of traditional hymns and original compositions. She has since collaborated with acclaimed musicians including Jenny Oaks Baker, Kurt Bestor, and Camille Nelson, and returned to her theatrical roots in the Irish-American musical Find Your Way Home.
Her solo performances have included appearances with the R.T.E. Concert Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic, The Hallé, Birmingham City Orchestra, Upper Canada Chorus, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, A Kurt Bestor Christmas, the American Festival Chorus & Orchestra, and the Annapolis Chamber Orchestra & Chorale. She also provided backing vocals on the award-winning Evita film soundtrack, supporting music icon Madonna.
Continuing to explore the intersection of music, heritage, and personal storytelling, Alex has been touring the United States with her own show, Heart of Ireland. Her debut Christmas album, The Secret of Christmas, is set for release in November 2025.
