Alx Xandr is a professional pannist and has been actively involved in the art form for 22 years. He began playing steelpan at the Leon Hess Comprehensive Secondary School, and has since made numerous contributions to steel band orchestras in the Caribbean region.

He has performed with the bands Black Antz and Eclectic Pan Jazz at the St. Lucia Jazz Festival, and as a featured guest performer with rhythm & blues legend Keb Mo, on The Legendary Rhythm and Blues Cruise.

Al’s musical arranging abilities contributed to Courts Babonneau Steel Orchestra in the Saint Lucia National Panorama, for the LHCSS steel band to participate in Junior Panorama Competition, and the following year, for the Pansonic steel band, in which the band placed 3rd. In his debut choral arranging abilities he helped capture the Inter-Secondary Schools Choir title for his alma mater. He has been featured on most of the major cruise lines as a prolific steel pan player.

Al’s took his musical experience and created “A taste of steel” which is a musical journey of how the steelpan moved from a discarded oil drum into an international musical instrument. Showcasing music from Mozart, to Beatles to Bruno Mars.
