About Magical Bones
Richard Essien also known as Magical Bones is the most exciting talent to have emerged from the magic industry in recent years. Born and raised in South East London, the magician and dancer has been entertaining audiences across the globe for over 10 years. Bones believes ‘Life is magic’ and he walks his talk by performing magic everywhere from penthouse suites to the rough council estates in Peckham; sharing magic with Corporate CEOs, people on the street and everyone else in between. Bones says ‘the best thing about magic is how it appeals to everyone. I can go from a black-tie dinner to a back-garden party, and everyone has a few moments of awe and astonishment’.
Business mogul Richard Branson recently said: ‘His passion for what he does really comes through and his unique style of magic is fresh and original’
Although magic is a major component in his life, Bones started out his professional career as a hip-hop dancer and was given the nickname ‘Bones’ because of his hard-hitting dance style. An exceptionally skilled break-dancer and a gifted showman, he has worked with some of the biggest names in the music industry including Madonna, Black Eyed Peas, Alicia Keys and is also the featured dancer in the video of Mint Royals’ UK No. 1 hit single, ‘Singing in the Rain’. Now focusing primarily as a magician, Bones is the star of the TV magic series, Around the World in 80 Tricks, which is being shown to over 60 million homes globally. He also regularly tours the globe with the hit West-end Magic show, IMPOSSIBLE, and has just finished a sell-out run at the Underbelly Festival with his one-man show Black Magic, which received rave reviews. Bones was also was selected as the closing act of the prestigious BBC1’s TV Bafta Awards ceremony.
