SHOW DESCRIPTION

Canadian flautist Tara Rachelle debuted as a soloist with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra at the age of sixteen while a student of Elizabeth Koch, principal flute of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra.  She continued her studies with Sarah Jackson and Camille Churchfield at the University of British Columbia where she received a Bachelor of Music Degree with Honours in Flute Performance.

Intrigued with chamber music, Tara went on to form the Atlantis Trio comprised of flute, violin, and cello.  After a world-wide tour in 2005 with the Atlantis Trio, Tara launched her solo career headlining on international cruise lines performing classical, latin, jazz, folk, and pop music on flute, piccolo, and a wide variety of ethnic flutes.  She has about fifty ethnic flutes in her collection!  These theatres at sea provide an ideal venue to pursue her passion of sharing music with a broad audience demographic while showcasing the origins and amazing versatility of the flute.

Tara has acted as principal flute with the Alberta Symphony and NUOVO Orchestra, as well as performed with the Alberta Baroque Ensemble and presented numerous solo recitals including a concert in the prestigious Featured Artist Series at the Vancouver Art Gallery.  In addition to her classical performances, Tara was enthusiastically received at The Cellar Jazz Club in Vancouver, Canada.  When not travelling the high seas, she enjoys performing regularly with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra on both flute and piccolo.

Tara Rachelle is proud to have been chosen as the soloist to premier the symphonic version of Jeff Tyzik’s Mallorca with the Edmonton Symphony in April 2018.
